Who are the organisers of the Best European Schoolbook Awards?

This competition is co-organised by three international organisations with special interest in education and schoolbooks;

1. The Frankfurt Book Fair which is well known as the biggest book fair worldwide and which is giving high priority to educational publishing in the coming years;

2. The IARTEM (International Association for Research on Textbooks and Educational Media) is a non-profit organisation independent of any institutional or commercal interest. It is a community of researchers worldwide with the aim to promote research on and understanding of textbooks and educational media. In view of the fact that seven members of the Best European Schoolbook Awards jury are members of IARTEM it should be stressed that IARTEM sustains the importance of assessing the quality of textbooks, and will do her utmost to base the assessment on research;

3. The EEPG (European Educational Publishers' Group) was founded in 1991 as an association of educational publishers in Europe, at the moment with 24 publishers as members from 24 European countries. Until 2008 the EEPG has been organising an internal annual competition of the best schoolbooks. However, it has been decided to expand this competition (as well the jury who evaluates the books) to all educational publishers in Europe.
